What people are saying about Buck Storm...
"It's head scratching time again. When you hear a record this good,
you're just left wondering why they had to put it out themselves. Then
you remember that Richard Buckner got dropped by MCA and you don't wonder
so much. The motto used to be "talent will out" now it's "talent
will be out,". Buck Storm, the leader of this eponymous band, reckons
they fall somewhere between U2 and Willie Nelson. I'd have to say it's
just next to Willie, and a million miles away from those Hibernian frauds.
It's not that they sound like Willie, it's that they conjure the same
mystic western landscape he's been exploring on his last couple of records.
They mine that same territory of endless roads, of heat and of God. They
sing about strange meetings, of motel rooms, ruined farms. Their songs
have titles like Jesus Saves, Range of Angels, and Frankie Found Salvation.
Buck Storm are an LA-based five piece band. They've built these songs
through long familiarity with each other. Awesome criss-crossings of acoustic
and electric guitar, mandolin, lap steel, organ, and accordion; close
to anthemic but never bombastic. Something like a desert E Street Band.
Opener Trailer Full of Crosses sets the standard from which they almost
never deviate. Simple opening developing into a complex collage from which
elements appear and withdraw. Storm's singing compelling, driving the
song. "and do you remember when we drove down to the river's edge,"
asks the chorus evoking Phoenix, Hopper, death, Mexico and Jesus, in five
short lines. Next song's Familiar, which given it's about ghosts, is an
ace title. This kicks off with some great mandolin, and once again, we're
off and running.
Goodbye From Venus is just a superb record, and if you've ever enjoyed
anyone I've mentioned above, bar you-know-who, or Bob Neuwirth or Chris
D. or Jolene, then you're in the territory and you should contact the
people below."

"Infectious and creative with great lyrics, these guys are talented.
Guys dont generally get into the lyrics of the song, but I was hooked
from the first note... Look out; BUCK STORM is ready to take over the
scene."
Matt McCallister
Early Show

"Sometimes, and its happening more and more, a self-released
CD comes in and its so good, you have to despair that no ones
picked up on it. From the first track, Buck Storm and his band whip up
intoxicating visions of a western way of life, littered with windswept
imagery of Jesus, the road and small-town survival. Its mighty powerful
stuff, played brilliantly by a band that know each other extremely well
and understand how to accentuate each others talents.
Theres nothing sparse about their music, instead its a veritable
wall of sound that the band build up around the songs, and the dynamic
interplay between the electric guitar and the acoustic strings, guitar,
mandolin, etc. provides a heady highlight. Song titles such as
Trailer Full of Crosses, Rage of Angels, Wandering and Frankie Found Salvation
give some idea of the road that theyre traveling, and all I can
do is recommend that you join them for awhile and I think youll
enjoy the trip."

"With his songs served up like mini-musical epics, Buck has the
vocal presence and the songwriting vision to be included in the next incarnation
of THE TRAVELING WILBURYS."
Jim O. Villanueva, Music Director
KLOS 95.5 Los Angeles, CA

"Far too many times it has become a normal thing to compare new
artists with old ones in order to define their sound... Thank God that
Buck Storm defies that norm.
Here's a band that has so much sincerity and gut wrenching originality
that it should make anyone stand up and take notice. I haven't been able
to take the cd out if the player yet and it's been weeks since the first
listening. I love these guys."

"A fiery rock masterpiece hotter than the desert sun!"

"What intrigued me the most when listening to their tape was the
quality of their songs. We rarely see bands today that both write and
play as well as Buck Storm."
Pete Anderson
Grammy award winning producer and guitarist for Dwight Yoakam

"Buck Storm's heartfelt singing, is matched only by the muscular
playing of his band. Heavy on the guitar riffs and pedal, with just enough
country flourishes to make your mama smile. This debut album is equal
parts rock and country."
